Went to Tech Hub Pulse 2026 last week and everyone in the room fell into two camps: half were confused about AI and the other half were selling you AI. But the third category is more prevalent and more dangerous where people who are both confused AND selling it to you.

Vendors were pitching AI solutions they can't explain the limitations of. Leaders were buying tools for their teams without understanding what the tools actually do. 

Decision-makers are spending budget based on fear of being left behind rather than a clear understanding of what problem they're solving. And the engineers on those teams are the ones left holding the bag when the tool doesn't do what was promised.

If your team is adopting AI tools, the first question isn't "which tool?" It's "does anyone in this room actually understand what we're buying and what it can't do?"
