Today I'm officially launching Learn with O.J.

I spent over two decades as a software engineer and leveled up twice, first to senior SWE, then to senior SRE. Both times I had to figure it out mostly on my own. The path wasn't clear, feedback was vague, and the goalposts kept moving.

I know I'm not the only one.

The opportunities are there. Senior roles make up more than half of all open positions. Senior SWE openings are up 13% since 2019. SREs are commanding $185K median salaries.

But getting there is harder than ever. AI tools are everywhere, yet developer satisfaction with them is dropping because "almost right" code means more debugging and review, not less. Data shows 70% of skills used in today's jobs will be different by 2030.

The tools are changing, the expectations are changing, and the path to senior is more confusing than before.

That's why I'm building Learn with O.J.

It's an learning platform to help SWEs and SREs understand what senior actually means and how to adapt and close the gap. For those who want hands-on support, I offer 1:1 mentoring, resume and code reviews, interview prep, and more. I'll be posting my progress as this project takes shape.

I believe mid-career engineers are closer to senior than they think. Sometimes all you need is clarity, actionable feedback, and someone to walk the path with you.

One more thing. Learn with O.J. is a 1% for the Planet member because Earth is the only home we have.
